Vacation and stuff! [29 Jul 2007|03:20pm]
[ mood | cheerful ]
[ music | Quigley Down Under - Main Title ]

Hey there, all of my 3 readers,

So I've been back in Pittsburgh, visiting for near a month now, and things have been a lot of fun.  Between 4th of July and dinner at The Shogun, things have just made a lot of good memories.  I guess I should add that I went to Otakon 07, while here too.

Otakon: While it wasn't the greatest convention I'd been to, I was still having a good time.  The Thursday drive down was a bit hectic.  When we finally get into the Inner Harbor, we pretty much ended up circling twice, trying to check into the wrong hotel, then circled twice again, and checked into the correct hotel where there was some sort of protest or rally going on at the time.

So, once we're checked in, the first night was fine.  Played some GBA.
Day 1: The first day was a good time.  The panels on Friday were a little spaced out and sometimes overlapped with other events that I was interested in, so other than that, it was all good.  First panel I made it to was 20 Years of MegaMan.  Not a bad panel, but it was almost like a school lecture, just a lot of information, little else.  The next panel I made it to was the Tomokazu Seki panel.  This was awesome.  While waiting for everyone to get seated, Seki was treating everyone to various impersonations of his characters, to thunderous applause.  He projected a lot of positive energy out there, too, so it was a good time.  Among the various impersonations was one from G-Gundam; I haven't seen the show so I don't know exactly what it was, but I believe it was the "Burning/Shining Finger" which if I'm not mistaken, is an uber-kill you move. After the Seki panel, we got some food, then went to the Game Show. I was concerned that the game show would SUCK, real, real bad after a past experience when people who were running a panel would call two different style panels the same thing.  But to my great joy it was surprisingly entertaining. After that was just the AMV Contest... which SUCKED until halfway through the second category.  After the contest, nothing really happened, so I ended up back at the room, and went to sleep.

Day 2: Went into the dealer room, but was disappointed by the lack of a real cd-selling booth.  There were a few that had a small selection that I was told, but nothing had what I had set out to get.  Then the day really got going: Steve Blum's panel was a riot.  Lots of hilarity and some good insightful questions.  After Blum was a Kendo Demo.  I went to see if the panelist knew what they were doing and had any right to be giving a panel on the subject: He did.  A Yondan was very informative and shared many of the same beliefs as I do on certain issues relating to Kendo.  It was a good panel, and I was pleasantly surprised.  Spent the rest of that afternoon killing time, until the Masquerade.  The Masquerade, as per usual(since I've gone) was hilarious and awesome.  There were a few skits that seemed to play a bit much on the "Yaoi fandom" for my taste, but for the most part the skits were enjoyable.  If I didn't get the game or anime they were from, the skits parody of something was what I got.  The high point of the masquerade for me was watching Tikki and the Revolution perform for the 2nd year in a row.  "Street Fighter Revival: Part Deux" was a lot of fun to watch and had a very good energy about it.  It was just a fun skit.  After the masquerade was "Dub Actors After Dark." This panel was fuckin' hilarious.  A bunch of 20-something American dub voice actors talking about all the raunchiest and flat out disturbing shit that they had in their heads.  Lots of cursing, lots of sexual and bathroom humor acted as a high-point for the panel: was absolutely hilarious.  After that, I retired for the evening.

Day 3: The only thing that was happening on day 3 was the performance from Eminence. So, after waiting for an open elevator for 20 minutes, we finally get checked out of the hotel, and are in line for the concert; ran into Bill, gave him a quick line-cut privalege and then went to see what may have been one of the greatest experiences of my life.  Eminence is a full orchestra(only a 5-person ensemble came to America) from Austrailia that specializes in arranged versions of Anime and Videogame music.  I was nearly moved to tears a few times, but specifically when they played Princess Mononoke's theme.

And then we came back.  That's about it.
Questions? Comments? LEMME HEAR 'EM.

LATER!

Here it is, Saturday. The day I begin to move. I don't think I'm anxious, or nervous or any of that shit. I think I'm just fucking ready. It's 7:43 AM, and I think I'm going to go back to sleep in a few minutes, but I just wanted to say, don't worry about me. Not that I expect it to, but if anything happens to me during the move, it's going to be one of those times where you just have to roll-wit-it. Improvise and all that shit. To anyone I didn't get a chance to say "goodbye" to face-to-face, I will be back for the week of X-mas, so maybe we can get together around then. I can't promise anything, of course, but we'll definitely fucking try.

As for the move, I think I'll like my new house when we get it. We've had our offer accepted, so it's just going to be a matter of "closing" the house and making it officially-official-McSkeezix.  I'll have an upper floor room, that is basically on the opposite side of the house from my mom and dad. Wish I could've seen Enza while she was in town for the few days she was, but not only did she not seem to feel like picking up her phone, but she didn't IM or e-mail me either. It's not a big deal, really, it's just one of those things that I wish I could've done. Like sex. ;-D

Other than that, I don't have too much to say, but if you really, really want to know what's up, and stuff, you can call me on my cell phone sometime today. I  love to receive calls from interested parties. Even if we don't strike up much of a conversation, the fact that you'd call me when I'm trying to not go psychotic from moving means a lot to me. (Btw, number's 412-527-6743, and it's Verizon).

Ok, I'm going to get something to drink and try to fall back asleep for an hour. Then I'll have to disassemble my computer, and such, and won't be online for a few days. See ya.

And no, I'm not ashamed that I like the new Madonna single.

Well, time for October. October is a great month. I'm a huge fan of October. Love the atmosphere, the temperature, the movies.

Well, usually I like the movies. But this year Doom is involved. As I'm sure everyone who reads this knows: Doom, the movie, is going to be ass. I came up with the concept of getting drunk beforehand, and then going to see it. I don't think this is intelligent, mind you, but it must be done. Someone has to sacrifice themselves to see it.

On a positive note: I'll be able to see Amber again before I have to move. We'll probably share a drink, a laugh, a movie, and probably a meal over a weekend. Which is great, 'cause I haven't really had a chance to hang out with her for a long time, plus with me moving, it'd be nice to spend some more time with a friend. I spend time with friends plenty, I guess, but it's nice to hang out with various people. If that makes sense, great. If it doesn't, I guess that's just too fuckin' bad for you. ^_^

Also, I'm visiting Andi, and meeting/visiting Donna. It should make for a great trip. Long drive, but I think it'll be a lot of fun for the weekend whenever I get there. I have no idea what the hell we're going to do, to kill time, but I imagine it'll involve bars, and it'll involve videogames, and movies. All of which I'll be cool with by the time I'm up there.

Castlevania is fucking kick-ass. That's about all I've got.

The Rules: Anybody who's interested in doing a little magical experiment, and hopefully getting their sigils cast, just post a sigil of your own design prominently in an LJ entry on your own journal. You can also post it (if it's relatively small, please) as a comment to this entry on my LJ, so that everybody who looks at mine will also see yours! You can even go the extra mile and use it as your LJ icon such as I have done. The idea is that, as more people observe your sigil, it will be 'charged' or 'fired into the collective mind', 'astral plane' or whatever you want to call it. Make sure not to label it, or in any way indicate what the sigil represents! Also, post THESE RULES in the same entry as your sigil, so that others who might be interested can play the game, too.

Making and casting a sigil is one of the easiest and most efficient methods of 'casting a spell', or performing an act of results-oriented magic (i.e. any magic geared toward achieving observable results in any given arena). A basic and easily personalized method of 'sigilization' is as follows:

1) Begin by writing out your desire in full: "It is my will to get five bucks for a sandwich," will be our example.

2) Next, cross-out all of the repeating letters. In this case, we are left with: "MYWGVBUK". This is quite a large string of letters, and will be a bit difficult to work with, so we can shorten it further by removing vowels, leaving us with: "MWGVBK". In some cases, it will also be suitable to use the first letter of each word in the sentence, removing any repeaters (and vowels, if necessary).

3) Having crossed-out all of the extra letters which will make our job difficult, we can start to play around with the letters we saved. Combine the letters in various ways to produce a symbol which doesn't look like it represents a sentence. The idea is to create a more or less unintelligeable symbol which your unconscious mind will immediately recognize, but your conscious mind will have to think about to remember (and subsequently to try to avoid thinking about it!). To the right is one for our example. As you can see, it doesn't have to be pretty... If you want to fool around with your own until you think they're asthetically pleasing, you're always free to do so! But the important part is to make it unrecognizable for what it symbolizes.

There you go; you've made a sigil. The next step is casting it, which can be done through meditation on the image itself (not the meaning of it), imagining it at the moment of orgasm, or numerous other methods used in other types of magic. In the case of this 'meme', the casting method is to simply lay it around and let other people's attention cast it for you. You can try a variation on this experiment by placing photocopies of the sigil in public places, as well. Lastly, stop thinking about it. This doesn't mean that if you EVER think about it, it won't work; just don't dwell on it. This frees-up the psychological/emotional force behind the desire to go to work on it through the symbol, rather than being caught-up in your fantasizing about its success or brooding over its failure.

Enjoy your sigilization, and good luck!"

Let's give it a whirl!

Information! [13 Jul 2005|03:17am]
[ mood | tired ]
[ music | The Servent - Cells ]

I went to Vermont the week of the 4th, starting the trip on Sunday the 3rd. Came back, Saturday, the 9th.

Here's what happened, in rudementary fashion:
Trip up: SHITTY. I was damned tired. and I didn't sleep well in the car at alllll. Day 2: 4th of July. Relatively boring, until we were visited by my aunt and uncle. After chatting it up with them for a long time, we ate dinner, then went off to see fireworks. As a guy, I was obviously struck by the explosives. They impress me, for some wierd reason. Anyway! Went back.
Day 3: Saw War of the Worlds. Mediocre movie. Great special effects, poor plot. Felt queasy and then went back to the Grandmother's.
Day 4: I stayed in the house, as I didn't feel well, and had my mom and sister go see Howl's Moving Castle with the aforementioned aunt. They all seemed to love it. I liked it, when I saw it, but I didn't love it. Anyway.
Day 5: Saw Batman Begins, 3rd time for me, 1st for my mom and sister. Loved it. Thank god they aren't completely stupid. ^_^
Day 6: My mother drove me around, doing touristy things. I can't say I was really all too impressed with "Smuggler's Notch," at least not as I drove through it with her. I'll elaborate on that in a moment. After the notch, she and I went and saw this guy blow glass. The glass blowing studio was this little building where the front was a store, where you could buy all the creations of this sweet guy. Watched him make a few things. First thing he made was a vase.It looked like he was just going to be making a cup, but then he blew air into the rod he was using and started swinging it around. It was martial-arts-style. Imagine the pendulum of a clock, with one end glowing, swinging all the way around. Anyway, check his shit out. http://www.zglassblowing.com Back to the point: bought some souvenir type things, and we were on our way back to the house, when we made one last stop at the grocery store. When my mom went in, I took a moment to call Amber, and see what she was up to; caught her at home, was talkin' to her, lookin' forward to seein' her, she told me about how her family was going to be going on vacation themselves, soon. Mentioned that I picked up a few things for her, and she was sorta flattered, sorta upset that I spent the money on her, I guess, lol
Ok, so anyway.
Day 7: Trip back. I was doin' fine until we neared the end of our long 13 hour journey. I decided to sleep in the backseat. I woke up, and felt sicker than hell. I have no idea how someone gets the flu from such a thing, but yeah.. I did. And then lessee... at home, in my own bed, I tried to lay down, unable to eat anything, barely able to drink anything. I call for my mother--I'm out of ideas. "I can't get warm..." She checked me, and concured that I was running a little bit of a fever, and so we set about doing battle with the fever.

Also, on the actual trip, thank THE LORD for GBA, and it's wholesome goodness... even if I got fucking STUCK in multiple Zelda games... *shakes head* I've become weak.

2 days later: I am still sick, with random spurts of stomach cramping, but the fever is gone... woooooo... -.-'

Apparently, life as I know it is going to cease to be, in the upcoming months. I'm going to probably end up in fucking Alabama. Huntsville to be precise. Why, you ask? My dad, currently grumpy with his long-time employers, will be getting a job offer from a firm in Alabama. I don't know what exactly the fucking difference in his job description will be, but it will be somewhere in the neighborhood of a $40,000+ raise, and he'll be a respected member of the company.  Whoop-de-fucking-doo. It's just too much money for him to pass up, but I'm still fuckin' furious about the concept of leaving. Pittsburgh is a town with little or no future, for me. I know that. I know that for what I want to do, I can't exactly get into the upper echelons, from Pittsburgh. I still do not, want to move to Ala-fucking-bama. Not only is it ALABAMA, but it's some fucking place that I've NEVER been, NEVER thought of going, and NEVER wish to see. My life is here. My friends are here. My spirit is here. Why the FUCK would I want to move?

"It's what I was meant to do."

You are the true enigma. No one knows much about you, you do not understand much of yourself, and your life seems to carry no purpose.
